Let's Talk About Thyroid!

🦋The thyroid gland regulates most/all of the body's metabolic processes. Many health concerns can pop up if our thyroid is not functioning properly.

🤯The thyroid can appear complicated but I'm going to try to simplify it for you.

🗣️Basically, the TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) acts as a "starter" for your thyroid gland to produce the active thyroid hormones.

🛜TSH signals the thyroid to release the T4 hormone. T4 then converts to T3.

⚠️But sometimes it doesn't happen this way.....

👀Most of the time, providers only check the TSH levels. This level can be in normal range even when the other hormones (T4 and T3) are abnormal.

🚨T3 and T4 have to be in optimal range for you to feel good and be at your best.

‼️This is why it is SO IMPORTANT to push your provider to check ALL THE THINGS. You will not achieve optimal thyroid health by checking TSH alone.

🥱If you are tired, losing hair, having weight changes, sleep problems, brittle nails, heart palpitations... get ALL your levels checked!!!

👩🏻‍⚕️If you need a provider that is willing to investigate—give me a call!
